REVIEW: Lost In Kiev – Motions

I became stuck in Lost In Kiev´s album Motions from my first listening. It brought me memories back to the end of 90´s when I frequently listen to the Swedish project Morte Macabre superb album Symphony Holocaust. Dark and progressive rock. Just press play and relax to this very emotional and sometimes intensive record Motion.

Lost in Kiev is a 5 pieces band from Paris who right now searching for guitarists. Their music is very guitar based and they also work with samples. The album can nearly been seen as an instrumental album. The main part is instrumental, but they have partly added speaking monologs and in the second track ”A Mere Shift Of Origin” there is a dialog between a man and a women, kind of different. Then later on, in the last track ”The Day I Ruined My Life” everything turns out with a grime core screaming which fit perfect as a catharsis for this record.

I can highly recommend this record to people who are into darker guitar based progressive rock. Motion is filled with very much emotion. If you have heard Morte Macabre you probably will like this too. The big difference between those bands might be that Lost In Kiev is more straight forward when Morte Macabre sometimes pulled off more and became more crazy.

REVIEW: Madness Of The Night - The Asgarda

Madness of the Night
The Asgarda – released Nov 29th 2013

Madness of the Night are Daniel Dante (Sweden) & Abir Blackshadow (Lebanon). Formed in 2011 and based in Sweden their unique style and take on Goth Rock can probably best be surmised in their own words: "When we make music, we focus on our inner voices, this is where the music comes from. There is no inspiration to our music but only the Madness inside of us."

With the release of "The Asgarda" they have not only re-recorded and re-mastered some of their previous releases but also written and recorded new material for the album. It is worth noting at this point that when we say "re-mastered" – we mean "mastered".

The previously released tracks that appear on the album have been given a totally new lease on life and this album raises the bar by Madness of the Night into new highs and current fans and followers will both be surprised at the "new sound" and possibly shocked as well.

Signing to predominantly "metal" label Massacre Records (Germany) who describe the release as 'Gothic Metal' and bringing in Andy Horn (Mortal Love, Darkseed, Edenbridge) who mixed and mastered the album has given Madness of the Night a new lease on life and raised the bar to all new highs.

Daniels work on the music has been given the treatment it so rightly deserves and his work not only on his guitar playing, but also his piano, synth and programming has allowed his dark roots to grow and flourish. Classic Goth riff driven tracks, with atmospheric backing, create songs written with changes and melodies that are totally recognisable as Madness of the Night. The overall sound may have been enhanced and strengthened but nothing familiar has been taken away, it's a perfect example of what should happen when a band's music is professionally presented.

Within all the re-mastering and mixing and production and all that "technical" stuff, what does it actually mean for the songs?

What it means is that in balancing the music and enhancing on Daniels work the soundscape allows the power and passion of Abir's vocal to not only drive the songs skywards but to give her the space to do what only she can do – deliver her message in a way that few can do these days.

Singing in English as well as her native tongue of Arabic gives an extra edge to The Asgarda that is both a surprise and a breath of fresh air. Arabic may not be a language familiar to many of us, but in a song like "Theatre of Life", Abir's vocal – which is both powerful and yet soft at the same time, meanders and floats over the track beautifully and singing in Arabic just adds something extra special to the song.

"Javla Zigenare" is our pick from the album though. This song has a "wow-factor" to rival any Goth Rock anthem out there. If it fails to get you out of your seat then you may need to see a doctor as you're most likely dead. If you're not screaming the chorus after even the first listen then you will be after the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and more as this is a track you will most certainly play many, many times.

However, it's not all Goth Metal or Goth Rock! "Jephania" or even "She is the Demon" are more or less piano based songs with a true darkness at their heart following haunting melodies and almost operatic vocals. Add to that the slow drive of "Oppression" and the epic seven and a half minutes of "Stand Up" which is not only well written and powerful in its delivery but also a very passionate, dark track - which for us is a song deserving of its length – and you have an album which delivers at every turn within the songs and within every song change.

Madness of the Night have worked long and hard on this album and it shows. Powerful, Haunting, Passionate and Aggressive are just a few of the words that we would use to describe "The Asgarda", but possibly the best way to describe Madness of the Night would be to end this article in the same way it started - in their own words: "We Are Goth Rockers And We Don't Care!"

The Asgarda is available from Massacre Records from November 29th.

REVIEW: Johnathan Christian - Beautiful Hideous

Johnathan Mooney (music / US) and Christian Granquist (voice / Sweden) started a band / project and came across this little different idea to name this "Johnathan Christian". Johnathan has a background playing keyboard in the band "The New Creatures" and Christian "Day Behavior" and "The Atom". Now they found each others and worked together over the ocean to finish the album "Beautiful Hideous", released 8 of november 2013.

The album is good and interesting, the music groves och and think there are some pieces of art I would like to highlight as "I Walk This Earth Alone" and "The Sweetest Betrayal". I like the symphonic parts most in "Beautiful Hideous" which make me feel Johnathan Christian a bit different. They found their own style and stick out from the mainstream. I hear that they are inspirations from the Dark Wave scene, sometimes the music reminds of Tilo Wolff´s Lacrimosa. In the backgrounds you hear strings and choirs that gets you back to older Italian film music. With knowledge of Johnathan´s background I can understand that many of the songs are written out from piano melodies.

The last parts of the record got two remixes of already played songs, and a cover of Duran Duran´s classical song The Chauffeur. Sounds like they made it their own version maybe with inspiration of the Slovenian band Laibach, even the speak singing.

"Beautiful Hideous" is a good debut album and an interesting project I like to follow up more in the future. I hope they keep their style, especially with those symphonic part.

REVIEW: Horror Vacui - In Darkness You Will Feel Alright

The Italian band Horror Vacui´s debut album "In Darkness You Will Feel Alright" was released in the end of last year (2012). The record introduced by Krzysztof Komeda´s "Main Title", a soundtrack from Roman Polanski´s movie Rosemary´s Baby. The singing woman ends abruptly with the track "Black Rivers" and thereafter Horror Vacui plays intensive with a higher tempo til the end.

The members of Horror Vacui have a past in the punk rock scene, and you can hear that. In an interview with the band, they told that they normally listen to Gothic Rock so it was time to play what they listen to. That´s how Horror Vacui was founded.

"In Darkness You Will Feel Alright" is a record where the music is based on very traditional Gothic Rock. A sound from the 80´s or early 90´s. The songs have a very high standard through all record, their sound is kind of noisy, punk sound, I love it!

I can highly recommend this album. It is a prof that there still are bands that turns back to the roots of darkwave / Gothic Rock.

REVIEW: Vanity - Occult You

First time I heard the band Vanity was for about one year ago and I played them on Gothtune! (podcast #4 (Sleeping Tears) and #11 (Under Black Ice). But it took nearly a year before I listen through all their cd Occult You.

The record was recorded under total isolation between december 2011 to februari 2012 och the release day was not until begining of 2013. The members lives near Tuscany in Italy, but comes from different countries and cultures. The lyrics is based on a never released book by the singer with the name "Occult You".

When I got the chance to listen to all the record and build me a full picture, I understood how damn good they are. It is hard to point a finger and tell where I should categorizing there music. There are a bit of everything and everything sounds fantastic. I hear rots of darkwave, but other kinds of rock. If I should make a choice, I can tell you that I hear some metaphors and sounds that reminds me of Anathema´s record Alternative 4, which I had on repeat for a long time in the end of the 90´s. However, it is wrong by me to compare them with Anathema 100% because you find other influence as well.

What can I say, I think this can be one of my favorite records of 2013.

Soror Dolorosa - Hologram

Video directed by Toshadeva Palani
http://toshadeva.palani.com/

Soror Dolorosa:
http://www.sorordolorosa.com

Biography
Formerly from Toulouse (southern France), SOROR DOLOROSA was originally founded in 2001, with Andy (Nuit Noire, Mutiilation, Peste Noire, Celestia, Darvulia, Fornication) on drums, Franck (ex Funeraell) on guitar, Herve (ex Funeraell) on bass, and Christophe Guenot (ex Funeraell) on vocals.

Herve came up with the name of SOROR DOLOROSA because of a novel titled "Bruges-la-morte" by Georges Rodenbach, a Flemish symbolist writer from the late 19th century. A novel marked by symbolism of nostalgia and mourning. SOROR DOLOROSA means "Sister Pain" in Latin, one could almost translate it as "lovers of pain" in a more Baudelaire way...

The band recorded an unpublished demo, then the line-up changed in 2003 with the arrival of Emey (ex Contrast, Unscarred ...), who replaced Franck on guitar. Subsequently they recorded a second unpublished demo and did some gigs until they split in 2005.

In August 2007 they reformed with the present line up. A month later, based on songs written by bassist Carles Herve, the band recorded a third unpublished demo whose content sounds definitely Gothic Rock and Death Rock, influenced by groups such as Christian Death, Bauhaus, and The Sisters of Mercy.

From that time, Soror Dolorosa's style became more personal and they found an own identity as a band. The songs were now written by the four members together, though still mostly based on the bass guitar. They took on a Cold Wave colouring, more in line with bands such as The Cure or Human League, but also with hints of 70's rock like Deep Purple or Black Sabbath and retaining the Sisters of Mercy-like Gothic Rock influence.

Soror Dolorosa made their first record appearance with "American Chronicle" in March 2008, on the free compilation "Poisoned Dead Frogs" (Manic Depression):
http://www.manicdepressionrecords.com/frogs.php

When the third demo was out on myspace, the group was contacted to release an EP through the British label Todestrieb Records. This 6 track EP, entitled "Severance", wasn't released until August 2009 due to production delays and is being distributed through underground ways, while the band promoted it with successful live performances all over France.

Some time in 2009, through the help of Neige (Amesoeurs, Alcest), the band came in contact with Northern Silence Productions, who offered to release their upcoming albums on their newly founded sublabel Beneath Grey Skies, and subsequently produced the debut full length "Blind Scenes", recorded in August 2010 at Drudenhaus Studio.

To use the band's own words: "The album is quite cold, with misty blue moods. 'Blind Scenes' would rather be perceived as scenes unseen, that is to say, out of time and out of the real world. As a state of grace overshadowed by the inevitability of everyday life. The lyrics are heartfelt and talk about regrets, coldness, alcohol abuse, as well as forfeiture, but mostly nostalgia, hence the blue color of the music."

That's also why they chose "Drudenhaus Studio" (CNK, Alcest, Les Discrets, Varsovie, Necroblaspheme), recommended by Neige, who described it as an ideal place to record their music. On the one hand because the studio is analog, and on the other hand because it is located in Brittany's countryside, isolated from the rest of the world, with compulsory rain in August. It was produced by Benoit Roux "Mr. Xort" (ex Anorexia Nervosa), who recorded additional keyboards.

The album artwork & layout was done by Metastazis, who is one of the best illustrators/designers of the underground scene and worked for Alcest, Anathema, Antaeus, Enthroned, Forgotten Woods, Gorgoroth, Immolation, Secrets of the Moon, Taake, Listenable Records, Osmose Productions & Warner Bros.

So, that's how Soror Dolorosa appear today, which is quite a feat, knowing their respective influences. Andy, as a drummer, has been marked by Black Metal and Metal in general but also by the likes of Human League, Fields of the Nephilim or Ulver's latest albums. Herve is a big fan of The Cure, Depeche Mode and Christian Death. Emey is somewhat influenced by Metallica, Satriani, Vai, but also Blues & Movie Soundtracks. Franck listens to bands as diverse as Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi or The French Variety, as well as Reggae, although he is primarily a Beatles fan. However, since the basics for their songs often come from bass riffs, the colour of the music naturally goes into the direction of Gothic/Death Rock and Cold Wave.

Then Comes Silence - Spirits Flow

SPIRITS FLOW - is the teaser from the forthcoming second album THEN COMES SILENCE II.

About
A four piece band formed in 2012 in Stockholm, Sweden. The follow-up Then Comes Silence II due out October 23 on Novoton

Biography
Pretty much what four musicians can do with guitars making horror music. A fascination of death, doom, spiritualism and corruption has gathered the members of THEN COMES SILENCE, together with a predisposition towards noiserock, goth, shoegaze and psychedelia. The band brings darkness and romantic death via music and sounds, performed on guitars at deafening volume. Cathartic, distorted and effect-laden. This fall will see the release of their self-titled debut and the unleash of dark forces.
As humans, we have been carrying the culture of fear and horror since ancient times. In folklore and stories. A trip through desolated grounds or a night in the woods can easily bring those ancient premonitions back to life. Our comfortable modern lifestyle makes us isolated and afraid of death. It makes us avoid the things that remind us of it. A fear of the unknown. What we cannot see nor understand.

Description
Sweden's captains of thundering postpunk, noisy psychadelica and dreamy goth-gaze are back in the same pitchblack waters as before. As follow up to the self titled debut, the quartet now presents Then Comes Silence II. The fascination for doom, darkness, death and the ghastly and terrible is intact and the band navigate a steady course towards the same destination.
The debut album from 2012 attracted attention widely and was praised for its apocalyptic message and dystopian soundscape.
That same year, Then Comes Silence were requested to be the opening act for A Place to Bury Strangers for their Stockholm visit, the first live-appearance for the Stockholm quartet. This was followed by a performance at the prestigious Roskilde Festival in Denmark. All in all an eventful journey in less than one year. The work on the sequel began as the debut was still hot off the presses. In a short time span, the band had to undergo some serious changes as two members left the group. After this alteration and intense sessions, the result is on the horizon. As before, the singer and bassist Alex Svenson (Sad Days for Puppets) is the main composer. This time Svenson has achieved something even more black and gritty than the debut album. Anna Eklund (Sad Day for Puppets) also returns in the duet and single "She Lies in Wait".

This video was produced in October 2012 in Hong Kong by
Director: Strahd Tang and Hoyin Chan
Pruduction: Fat Ball and Dennis Fung
Artists: Angelica Hung, Din-Tah Aeon and Nino
A special thanks goes to Diane for managing everything.

Biography
Din-Tah Aeon and n1n0, already enriching the 'dark side of music' with other projects in the past, are now on the road with a self-produced, 40 minutes-set, tied on the atmosphere of Fields of the Nephilim or The Sisters of Mercy, revamping it into a modern style.

The album "per aspera ad astra" not only shines with unique sound and sophisticated tracks, but also inebriates the attentive listenes with extraordinary audioeffects. The likewise self designed artwork is enriched with drawings from the also german industrial artist ghostfog. Let yourself be absorbed into the world of Aeon Sable.

Asrai - Between Dreams And Destiny

”Between dreams and Destiny” är genomgripande bra och välproducerad.

Ett smakprov finns tillgänglig på nätet, deras video de släppte på låten, ”All Seems So Hollow” i våras.

Interview with Girl Loves Dead Boys

Girl Loves Dead Boys was formed in 2004 Westminster, California USA by Phillip Baxter. After a break for five years they are now back and working on a new cd.
Tell us about your backgrounds and musical influence?

Phillip:
I have a wide background of musical influences but where ideas come from for Girl Loves Dead Boys is mostly from my influences by Sisters of Mercy, Clan of Xymox, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Nine Inch Nails and oddly enough, Dr. Dre. I really like the simplicity of hip hop rhythms and the musical structure. It's actually very similar to darkwave from a rhythm standpoint but people don't notice it. You could actually take my vocals out of most of GLDB tracks and replace them with a rap artist and it would work. On the other side, I really enjoy to rock out in a way to employ emotions of angst or anger or even sadness like Nine Inch Nails has done so well and even bands from the past like Led Zeppelin. A great example is the song Kashmir. It's dark but its rock n roll.
So, you will hear more of this style of influence on new GLDB music like the new song "Hourglass Tipping" which will be out soon on YouTube as a single video to predicate the new album.

Is it the same line up today as it was between 2004 - 2008?

Phillip: Yes and No. The main lineup has always just been myself. Kind of like how Trent Reznor is Nine Inch Nails, Phillip Carl Baxter is Girl Loves Dead Boys. There were inputs from other musicians rarely.

You had a break for five years, what did you do between this time, other bands?

Phillip: I did collaborate and work on other music with a world band but was mostly occupied with being in and out of bad relationships and concentrating on work. I really didn't think much of GLDB during the last 5 years. I just concentrated on finding myself, making peace with the past, gained sobriety in 2010, and found new love. Got married.

Tell us about the name Girl Loves Dead Boys.
How did you find it and is there any deeper meaning or idea behind it?

Phillip:
It didn't take much time to find the name. I was sitting in the studio about to work on a new song for ReverbTv and I just had a flash thought of "hey, why don't i do something different". That was the end of ReverbTv right at that moment.
I wanted to do something bringing back my early influences of Sisters of Mercy, Clan of Xymox era. Those  rhythms that engaged me and those simple and atmospheric guitar lines that were just so cool. I knew I had a baritone voice naturally but never really explored the territory. It would be a new step for me but it made me excited about music again. So, I just thought about all my days in the goth dance clubs and pictured it in my head. I never really could afford the coolest goth clothes and never did the crazy hair styles and heavy makeup but I remember that the guys who were the most  "gothic" so to speak, always had the most girls, even though I didn't do too bad, this is what I noticed. Gothic (dead girls) liked the most gothic (dead boys) and I thought of the phrase "dead girls love dead boys" and then just simplified that to work as a band name. Girl Loves Dead Boys. Then I immediately went to work on the rhythm track for the song Girl Loves Dead Boys and 2 hours later I was laying scratch vocal tracks to it. The first song was that one. Its what I was thinking that evening for the band name and titled the song the same and wrote about my thoughts. Just listen to the lyrics. So everything kind of tied together in one spark that evening, the band name, the title song, the lyrics, my thoughts of my club past, and I went with it.

Where do you find your inspiration to make music?

Phillip: All of my songs are thoughts from a third person perspective. It's like a storyteller would do. I put myself in that frame of mind and just begin to tell a story in the context of songwriting rather than storytelling which is more complex. I am naturally a very emotional person, a Scorpio/Scorpio rising, and had a tough childhood emotionally. My love relationships have been extremely dramatic in the past and so I have felt all those highs and lows that accompany love and loss. Darkwave was the only natural choice to explore these emotions and express them to others who have had those feelings. It was the only natural choice to be able to relate this to others.  Goth is similar but the Darkwave sound adds textures and atmospheres that allow many more emotions to be tapped in to and explored. Goth ends up in the news with bad press and arguments too much.

Darkwave is pretty to the ears and emotions and has a lot more to say and allows the songwriter to express themselves as far as imagination can go. Pretty much anywhere. It's a great genre of music that had its day in the 80's only for a few years and surprisingly, in my opinion, didn't become as popular as rock n roll itself. I mean with Darkwave, I can use a hip hop rhythm and sing about any subject matter that may tap an emotional response to love, loss, or even science fictional characters and it's still Darkwave then turn around and use a heavy metal drum track and sing about something else. Add hip hop to a Bauhaus track like Bela Lugosi's Dead and it's no longer Goth. Darkwave has more room for exploration. I would go even as far as to say that the new Sigur Ros song Brennisteinn is Darkwave. But the hipsters are so knee deep in their own beliefs of what is indie that this would be a great argument even to the actual members of Sigur Ros who wrote the song. But in my opinion it's what Darkwave is. It's a certain sound really. I hope to bring attention back to it.

I see that you have played live in Serbia back in time, you picked a Serbian artist who made the front cover for your album, "Dead Faces White and Alone".
I guess you have some connection to Serbia, do Girl Loves Dead Boys have audience in the east?

Phillip: Not really anywhere in particular. It's a long story that will eventually surface. I'm awaiting to see if we can pull a fan base of any kind really.  The whole world is saturated with hipster indie and other genres in my opinion. So there aren't too many looking into darkwave anymore or even goth. It all seems dead.  It's really just a phase for many people. Lucky to see someone get into goth or darkwave and stick with it for more than 2 years then they move on to something else of interest.   I'm even taking a new approach to it in the second chapter of GLDB with bringing back the rock side of it hoping to attract a broader audience. I mean, you even see the new Sigur Ros is taking a darker and heavier rock approach. It seems that floaty and ambient textures aren't the thing right now. Not saying i will not do anything floaty or ambient. I'll just do what comes to mind when I'm in the moment if that makes sense. Right now I'm in a rock mood. I have some things to say that are relevant at the moment. And, some cool storytelling coming as well. I will be using lyrics that discuss the topic of life after death and some science fiction type stuff as well just to break up the monotony of love, loss, anger, and hurt lyrics all the time.

Are you going to play live in the near future?
Phillip: Absolutely. We are looking for invitations to large events and will probably do a small show with a few HD cameras to film it as a sort of "kick off" to the new GLDB thing. That will all come this year. I promise. But mostly just looking for the larger event invitations. We have not received any as of yet.

What is the future, are you going to make any new material, Cd etc?

Phillip:
Yes. Of course. Working on it as we speak. The new record "Torn" will be my greatest effort to date. I've brought in the assistance of a real drummer who comes from a metal background but is affluent in many styles and he sees my direction and is easy to work with. You will hear him and see him in the video for the song "Hourglass Tipping" currently a work in progress. Ivana will show up on vocals on the new album as well.  I will be looking for further collaboration efforts as the album progresses with other guitarists from well known underground goth groups. I'll mention them and you will see them in upcoming videos. Lots going on for 2013. I'm giving it a great effort this time. I feel good about songwriting now. No real second guessing anymore. I'm hoping things go well enough to follow with a second 2013 record in time for the holidays. Time will tell.

Is there anything you want to tell the readers?

Phillip: I don't know what to say really because I'm not sure of an existing fan base. Everything is new again. I think we just cracked the 100 Likes barrier on Facebook and VK is going ok so far. I would have to say thank you for reading this interview and for listening to our music but would also say to anyone reading this to please spread the word about Girl Loves Dead Boys if you like us. And if things go well for GLDB its always cool to say you were a part of something at the beginning before it took off. And if nothing happens at least you supported something unique to you. That's what is so cool about music. Discovering.

Intervju med Asrai

Asrai, you started as a band 1985 with only females. Over the time you have changed your lineup several times. Tell us about the way where you are today, have the struggle been hard?

Yes we started in 1985 as an all girl band. At that time there was a lively music diverse squatting scene in Rotterdam and a lot of our friends were playing in a band, but only the guys played the instruments. So it was time to add some girl power to the scene. Nowadays we are the only band still existing from that era , with a steady line up now for almost ten years. And with this line-up we had our break through.

Karin1Sometimes the struggle was hard, we had some line up-changes and it wasn't easy to find people with the right chemistry,( and with all the line ups we played for several years). But when people want to move on you need to let them go. We were lucky with people we found and friends they became. Also the prejudices against women in music struggle was a pain, although it never stopped us playing our music.

Throughout the years it was an exceptional journey starting from playing in squats up until the big venues and touring.

Has there been any moment you felt like the doors opening up for you as a band?

When we signed at Transmission records, the doors really opened up for Asrai. We were signed almost the same day they received our demo. Crazy times followed with a lot of gigs, our album released in Europe ,South America and Asia, a European tour, our clip on MTV and the Box, yes suddenly we reached and touched a lot of people with our music

Manon - KeysYou have worked with music for a long time, what is the different today in the gothic scene from the 80´s or 90´s.

A lot has been chanced, including us ;). But I think the most important thing in the Netherlands is the venues. In the 80’s there were so many more venues, it was much easier to play somewhere. With all the restrictions on sounds, safety and all the things the government could think of to close down as much as possible. The venues have increasingly comercieler programming process since they no longer receive subsidies like before.

In the 80’s it wasn’t called Gothic yet, but I think there was always a people who were ore interested to go to see live bands and a group who prefers the dance parties. But through the years you see the scene develop, and different styles in the scene, think about cyber, steam punk, I think that is nice through the years that in the gothic scene everybody can express their creativity in their own way.

Do you believe we enter a third wave for the gothic rock?

Wasn’t thinking about it like that, but I think you could be right, a new generation and a new era for Gothic Rock.

Margriet-vocalsYou released a cd some months ago, "Pearls in Dirt". Tell us more about this record.

After the release from Touch in the dark, we started to write new material. We wanted Sascha Peath to produce the album and was supposed to be released by Transmission records again. Just before recording the record company went bankrupt. What was a disaster of course, lucky enough we found Season of Mist who wanted to release the album. Another label, another vision and approach.

We recorded Pearls in Dirt in the Excess studio, with Hans Pieters and it became a hot blooded album, with songs about love, losses and all the things called life.

Did it take long time to write the material and finish it?

Some songs formed pretty quick and others took a bit longer to grow on us, they needed some time to turn out the way they are now.

Do you have any upcoming gigs?

March 16 in Brussels, Belgium. It the first edition from an event called Coalescaremonium

What is the most weird experience you had on a concert?

Through the years we had some weird experiences, one of the most funniest was, that we left the stage in London and missing Manon, she couldn’t leave because a fan was hugging her ankles so she couldn’t leave, of course we rescued her… and one of the first times we were playing on a big festival, when a girl showed Martin her sexual capabilities... and he missed some notes ;).

You made a video for your song "All seems so Hollow", tell us more about it. Who made it for you? Did it take long time to make it?

All seems so Hollow was one of the first songs we wrote after Pearls in Dirt. Sascha Peath wanted to be our producer again and we recorded it at The Gate Studio in Germany.

We wanted to have a video clip for this song. And Loes Baijens and Silver shot the video . It was so much fun to do, we found a farm barn (close were we used to live in our youth) where we could record the clip. When we were there for the first time we saw some awesome cars. And they suggested that we could use one of those It became a midnight blue Mustang from the 60’s that was so cool. Everybody was so nice and helped us out it was awesome. Natascha from Studio Mystica helped us out with a lot of details. The recording took all day, I think we played the song for more than a hundred times but it showed off, we’re really happy with the result.

Do you have any other future plans?

Rik2The music business is changing we all know it and still don’t know what direction it’s going. It’s insane to see how many studio’s, labels, venues and festivals went bankrupt

Time changes and we and we think it’s time to get back to our roots, therefore we decided to do everything ourselves again, just to be pure in the process. Following our own vision and believes. At the moment we recorded 5 new songs at the Gate Studio with Sascha Peath again. He knows exactly what we mean and it’s such a pleasure to work with him. Just put All seems so hollow in the air, and our further plans, just to do what we love the most, making and specially playing music.

Is there anything you want to tell the reader, that we forgot to ask?

Keep supporting bands, buy their cd’s and merchandise and go to the gigs. Follow them on social media, give them your support. And thank you for this interview

Intervju med Neuro Sentence

Neuro -Sentence is a band from Colorado Springs, USA. They describe themself as playing a mix of BloodWave, Goth, Electro, Industrial. When I contacted them they reply me and told me they are in a very busy time to finishing their full-length record.
How is it going? Do you spend much time in the studio?

Count W- Things are hectic at the moment between live shows and putting the finishing touches on the full length. All of the tracks are already recorded and mixed but we're still in the mastering phase. So at this time we're basically wrapping up the album. The countless hours of hanging out at the studio are behind us for the moment.

- Cold and Dry. Yes, in one way or another both of us spend a lot of time in our individual studios. I prefer my creations to reality…

Will the sound of your coming album be the same as the
E.P. "Victims & Virtues", or do you have any new influence?

Count W- Our influences haven't changed. The new tracks have the same atmosphere surrounding them. We think we've covered quite a bit for a debut release, different song structures, the use of guitars, trying to incorporate all of the different sub genres of goth/industrial etc. The only thing that will be different on the full length is the production quality. It will be better than the Victims and Virtues ep.

- Count W and I have further refined the razors edge, and have come very far from where we started in 2009; being total loners -I mean strangers. The influences are the same musically and lyrically: the majesty of isolation, and the sweet miseries of the individual dwelling in the last epoch of mankind.

Will the new record be under any label?

Count W- It's possible, but at this point in time there's nothing set in stone.

- Know any?

Where do you find your inspiration?

Count W- All things dark, depraved, sinister. The two of us grew up listening to black metal. This plays a very important role when we're composing our music. Capturing the dark atmosphere of black metal and fussing it with timelessness of electro goth music is something that sounds very appealing to us. Hopefully the rest of this scene will feel the same way. We'll have to wait and see.

- Reality and our perception of it, crude as it is considering the flesh and the serving of our neuro-sentence.

Neuro-Sentence started 2009, have you guys been in other bands
before?

- Music has been the only constant in my life besides anhedonia.

You play live; do you have anything-special happenings under your concerts?
Any Tesla fireworks ;)

- We hope to drive the audience to ruin their lives for a single night of ecstasy. Dionysus himself is a session live member, so you can infer the rest… And yes, there is some residual energy from Tesla's workings, which were conducted here in Colorado Springs.

How is the gothic scene in Colorado Spring, or the state of Colorado?

- Too much neon, not enough necromancy.

Is there anything you want to tell the reader?

- “If you believe that I’ve something to conceal, lose yourself in a mirror and see how it feels, when pain and shame are the only common bonds between me and you.” Thank you for your interest DJ Valhalla, Farval... OUR DEBUT ALBUM COMING SOON!
